The Boss BV9990 In Dash DVD Player: A Deeper Look

by Guest User on June 12, 2011

With technology growing in leaps and bounds each year, not only are new and better products being released to the market, but this is also causing the new products to be cheaper. When the first models of in-dash DVD players appeared many years ago, they were priced at $1000 and up. Nowadays the prices have become so low-cost that anyone can buy these types of units for their cars. In this article, we will focus our attention on one of these hi-tech but high-value in-dash DVD players known as the Boss BV9990.

The Boss BV9990 has an awesome 7-inch 1440×234 pixel resolution touchscreen. That point itself is one reason we wanted to look at this device. Besides having a brilliant screen, the touchscreen itself can be set vertically so that you can get the best viewing angle.

While it’s apparent that this player can play DVDs, it can handle many other formats too. Aside from being able to play DVDs and regular audio CDs, the Boss BV9990 player can also play VCDs, SVCDs, and MP4 files. One other awesome thing about this in-dash DVD player is that you can also plug in a USB thumb drive or an SD card that hold MP3 or WMA audio files and play music directly off them.

Obviously, almost everyone nowadays owns some sort of MP3 player. And whatever type of MP3 player you own, you can plug it right into the front of the Boss BV9990, and play your music right through this stereo. In addition, there is an input where you could add an optional rear view camera to your car. Which means you can plug in the camera and the image will show up on your 7-inch screen.

It should also be noted, the Boss BV9990 also comes with an am/fm tuner and a complete graphic equalizer display. This in-dash DVD player comes powered with 85 watts of pure audio goodness. The BV9990 also features front and rear RCA outputs and an output for a subwoofer, making it easy to expand. Besides all that, this in-dash player also comes with a full wireless remote. This feature is fantastic for folks sitting in the back who want to manage what’s playing on the DVD player. You are familiar with the type — the “turn it up”, “turn the volume down” or even the “hey, can you skip over that music” sort of individual who is always in every car.

This DVD player is a terrific in-dash player that has a lot of power and loaded with great features. Also the fact that the Boss BV9990 player starts at $199, makes this a great purchase, even for folks on a budget. So if you’re looking for a new car stereo or if you’re merely thinking about upgrading your unit, the Boss BV9990 is the ideal unit for you to check out.
