As soon as Nintendo’s creative designers came up with the Wii it took the video gaming society by storm. It opened up the world of computer gaming to all people. Through holding a super easy controller and swinging it like a tennis racket you were able to immediately play tennis games on the Wii console. There were not any complex buttons to learn or even strange joystick motions which generally meant it was simply reachable to first-time video gamers, both young and old. Currently, Microsofts unique Kinect games system takes things a step forward due to the fact now there’s no controller in any way!
The Nintendo Wii was ground-breaking but Microsoft Kinect takes things a step forward. Just like the Nintendo wii console, Kinect uses a scanning unit that rests on top of your Television. The main difference is though; Kinect scans your body and also picks up your motions, which means there’s no need to actually hold a controller in your own hand.
If you want to choose something from an onscreen menu all you do is lift your hand and motion which icon you need to select. If you are taking part in a racing game you just place both hands as if you were holding a steering wheel! There’s no requirement to actually buy an extra steering wheel add-on!
If the superior motion technology found in kinect isn’t awesome enough, how about voice recognition too? Yes, surprisingly, Kinect can recognize speech commands with advanced speech identification software.
It appears Microsoft’s completely new piece of kit is set to alter the face of video gaming permanently. As it is an add-on for the Xbox 360 it requires the Xbox 360 games console as well. The purchase price remains undisclosed since Kinect is not due for release until Oct this year.
